The Scene at the Manor

The Obsidian Manor gala was basically the Oscars for people who don’t have pulses. The room was a chaotic mix of heavy velvet curtains, the smell of expensive incense, and way too many people pretending they weren't hungry.

Mina Vane was leaning against the stone fountain, looking like she was about five seconds away from leaving to go find a better party. She wasn't doing the "scary ancient" act. She just looked like a girl who’d seen it all and wasn't impressed. Her dress was a messy masterpiece of purple ruffles and black corsetry, and honestly, the striped tights and boots were the ultimate "I don't care about your dress code" move.

The Nocturne Stars

The only thing about her that felt truly "old world" were those Nocturne Star earrings. They hit the light in a way that felt almost hypnotic. The purple crescents looked like they were made of frozen grape soda and starlight, and the jagged stars dangling underneath had this weird, marbled swirl of blues and violets.

They were light and Mina wore them like they weighed nothing. Whenever she turned her head, the stars would catch a candle flame and for a split second, it looked like her eyes were glowing the same shade of cosmic purple. It was a subtle flex—a reminder that while she looked like a rebel, she still had the jewelry of a queen.

The Midnight Vibe

As the clock hit twelve, Mina didn't bother with a formal toast. She just clicked her glass against the edge of the fountain, a small, knowing smile playing on her lips.

"Cheers to another century of bad decisions," she muttered to no one in particular.

She took a long sip of her drink, adjusted one of the Nocturne Stars that was tangled in her dark hair, and headed toward the dance floor. She didn't look back to see who was following. She already knew everyone was.
